Tomorrow I will take the day off work to loiter around the house until I’m beckoned with a call to manage the clean up of vomit. This summons will occur abruptly and there will probably be a Disney film or Paw Patrol episode playing in the background
Of course I will go attend to the sick child. Comfort, reassurance, and cleanup.
I will look at the large plastic vessel carrying the remnants of food and recall my own early run-ins with large plastic bowls. Some things never change. Blankets, bowls, parental reassurance – and vomit.
Though now that I’m moving into oddly nostalgic memories of puke bowls, a question occurs to me that, again, I’m too lazy to Google. What did people use for managing vomit before plastic bowls and/or indoor plumbing?
