I suspect people don’t remember most, if not all the children’s stories they were read during their early years. If we did, we’d probably approach the world differently. At least, this is how I feel now the I find myself reading crazy amounts of children’s books every week and revisiting – presumably – books from my early years.
I just read, There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly, and think it’s an absurd, nonsensical commentary on fad diets. But hey, it rhymes! Fortunately, I don’t have to reconcile this interpretation with my older interpretation of the book, minted back when I was 3-5 years old.
